An A starts at 93%, not 90%, and the bands between grades are unusually tight, so a few marks can move a B+ to an A-. What NSU students should know

NSU runs on a North American-style credit system: most courses carry 3 credits, labs and studios may carry 1, and your semester GPA is a credit-weighted average — never a simple mean of marks. Because NSU's A band starts at 93%, students used to public-university scales often overestimate their GPA; always calculate with NSU's own cut-offs. If you retake a course, confirm with your department whether the new grade replaces the old one before modelling recovery scenarios.

NSU grading system

NSU publishes grades on a 4.0 scale with tight private-university bands. The top mark is A at 93–100% (4.00 points); there is no A+ band. A B (83–86%) earns 3.00, a C (73–76%) earns 2.00, and a D (60–66%) earns just 1.00 — anything below 60% is an F at 0.00. Because the bands are narrow, one borderline grade in a 3-credit core course swings semester GPA more than students expect.

Percentage conversion

NSU transcripts show letter grades and CGPA, not percentage marks. The informal CGPA × 25 estimate circulates among Bangladeshi students, but NSU does not certify it — if a form demands a percentage, request a conversion letter from the NSU registrar rather than submitting a self-calculated figure.
