Quick answer: CCN University of Science and Technology (CCNUST) grades on the UGC Bangladesh uniform 4.00 scale. An A+ is worth 4.00 grade points, an A is 3.75, an A-minus is 3.50, a B+ is 3.25, a B is 3.00, a B-minus is 2.75, a C+ is 2.50, a C is 2.25, a D is 2.00, and an F is 0.00. You pass a course at 40 percent marks, which is a D. Your semester GPA is the total of (grade point times credit hours) for every course, divided by the total credit hours. Your CGPA is the same calculation run over every semester you have finished. This guide gives you the full table, the formula, three worked examples with every number shown, and an honest list of the CCN rules the university has not published online.
One important note before we start. CCN University does not publish its own letter-grade table, retake policy, probation rule, or graduation CGPA floor on its website. We checked the official site, ccnust.ac.bd, on 28 October 2026, including the homepage, the at-a-glance page, and the admission portal, and none of them carry a grading table. This article therefore uses the University Grants Commission (UGC) uniform grading scale as the national reference, cross-checked against five other Bangladeshi universities, and flags every CCN-specific rule as unverified. If a rule matters for your degree, confirm it with the Registrar at Kotbari, Cumilla, on 01815315000 or ccnust@gmail.com.
Check Your CCN GPA With the Calculator
The fastest way to check your number is to use the free calculator on the CGPA Calculator Pro homepage. There is no separate CCN calculator page. The homepage calculator uses the same UGC 4.00 scale that this guide is built on, so the grade points match the table below exactly.
Here is how to use it for a CCN semester. Add one row per course, pick the letter grade from the table below, and enter the credit hours from your course outline:
- Open the homepage calculator at cgpacalculatorpro.com.
- Check the grade points. A+ must show 4.00, A 3.75, A-minus 3.50, B+ 3.25, B 3.00, B-minus 2.75, C+ 2.50, C 2.25, D 2.00, and F 0.00. If any grade point looks different, re-check it against the table below.
- Read the semester GPA the calculator returns, then compare it with the hand calculation in the worked examples further down this page. The two should agree to two decimal places.
- For your CGPA, add every semester you have completed, not just the latest one. Enter all of your courses from all semesters, or use the calculator once per semester and combine the results with the formula in the CGPA section below.
A calculator only repeats the numbers you feed it. The worked examples in this guide exist so you can check the tool against arithmetic you can follow line by line. Run one semester by hand at least once, compare it with the calculator, and then trust the tool for the routine checks.
What CCN University of Science and Technology Is
CCN University of Science and Technology, usually shortened to CCNUST or CCN University, is a private university at Kotbari in Cumilla, Bangladesh. It was founded in 2014 by Dr. Md. Tariqul Islam Chowdhury, founder of the CCN Education Family, and it describes itself as the first private science and technology university in greater Cumilla. It was approved by the Prime Minister’s Office on 4 September 2014, the Ministry of Education on 12 October 2014, and the University Grants Commission on 22 October 2014, with academic permission following on 18 May 2015, under the Private Universities Act, 2010.
The campus sits at Chowdhury Estate, CCN Road, Kotbari, about 10.9 kilometres from Cumilla city and 1.7 kilometres south of Comilla University. The university has four faculties, Engineering, Science, Liberal Arts, and Business Administration, with nine departments. Undergraduate programmes are B.Sc. in CSE, EEE, and Civil Engineering, B.Sc. in Mathematics, B.S.S. in Economics, B.A. in English and Bangla, LL.B., and BBA; graduate programmes are MBA and LL.M. Teaching is in English on a bi-semester system, Spring from January to June and Fall from July to December.
Admissions for Spring 2027 were open at the time of writing. The admission portal lists tuition at 45,000 taka per semester and a four-year BBA carrying 144 credits. Its requirements ask for a minimum GPA of 3.50 in HSC and 3.00 in SSC for undergraduate science and commerce applicants, plus a pass in the CCNUST admission test, while graduate applicants need a bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.75. The at-a-glance page gives an older minimum, GPA 2.50 in both SSC and HSC, so treat the portal as current and confirm the requirement for your programme before you apply.
CCNUST is a small university, with about 1,100 current students and more than 2,000 alumni. That small size is part of why so little is published about it online: no student handbook, no examination ordinance, and no grading policy document that a search engine can find. Everything below that comes from the national UGC scale is labelled as such, and everything that would need a CCN document is labelled unverified.
The CCN Grading System: The Official UGC 4.00 Scale
The University Grants Commission introduced a uniform grading system for public and private universities, and CCNUST, as a UGC-approved private university, falls under it. The scale converts the total marks you earn in a course, out of 100, into a letter grade and a grade point. The table below is the one to use for every calculation in this guide.
| Marks Obtained (out of 100) | Letter Grade | Grade Point | Performance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 80% and above | A+ | 4.00 | Outstanding |
| 75% to less than 80% | A | 3.75 | Excellent |
| 70% to less than 75% | A- | 3.50 | Very Good |
| 65% to less than 70% | B+ | 3.25 | Good |
| 60% to less than 65% | B | 3.00 | Satisfactory |
| 55% to less than 60% | B- | 2.75 | Above Average |
| 50% to less than 55% | C+ | 2.50 | Average |
| 45% to less than 50% | C | 2.25 | Below Average |
| 40% to less than 45% | D | 2.00 | Pass |
| Less than 40% | F | 0.00 | Fail |
Three things about this table catch students out. First, the boundaries are exact: 79.9 percent is an A, not an A+, and 74.9 percent is an A-minus, not an A. Second, every step down the ladder costs exactly 0.25 grade points, except the step from D to F, which costs the full 2.00. Third, there is no C-minus, no D-plus, and no E grade on this scale.
The pass mark is 40 percent. A D, worth 2.00 grade points, is the lowest passing grade, and anything below 40 percent is an F worth 0.00. An F earns no credit hours toward your degree, but it still counts in the GPA calculation, because the credit hours of the failed course stay in the denominator while the course contributes zero points. That is why a single F hurts more than students expect.
We cross-checked this table against the published grade tables of five other Bangladeshi universities, and all five match it exactly: the Canadian University of Bangladesh, Britannia University of Cumilla, BGC Trust University Bangladesh, the University of Asia Pacific, and the University of Dhaka’s Institute of Nutrition and Food Science. That agreement is why this guide treats the table as the correct reference for CCN, even though CCN itself has not published it.
Your transcript is the final authority on your own grades. It shows the letter grade, the corresponding grade point, and the final CGPA, not the raw numerical marks. If a letter grade on your transcript does not match the marks you earned under this table, raise it with your course teacher first and then with the Controller of Examinations.
How GPA Is Calculated at CCN
Your GPA is a credit-weighted average. The most common error students make is to average their grade points without weighting them by credit hours: a 3-credit course counts three times as much as a 1-credit lab. The formula is the same for one semester and for your whole degree; only the set of courses changes.
Semester GPA = total grade points earned in the semester divided by total credit hours taken in the semester.
And a single course’s grade points are found by a simple multiplication: grade point times credit hours. Work through the steps below in order, and you will get the same answer as the calculator every time.
Step 1: Convert each course’s marks into a letter grade. Take the total marks out of 100 and find the matching row in the table above: 82 is an A+, 71 is an A-minus, 58 is a B-minus.
Step 2: Convert each letter grade into a grade point. A+ is 4.00, A 3.75, A-minus 3.50, B+ 3.25, B 3.00, B-minus 2.75, C+ 2.50, C 2.25, D 2.00, and F 0.00.
Step 3: Multiply each grade point by the course’s credit hours. A 3-credit course with an A is worth 3.75 times 3, which is 11.25 grade points.
Step 4: Add up all the grade points. This is your numerator for the semester.
Step 5: Add up all the credit hours. This is your denominator. Include the credit hours of failed courses: an F contributes zero points but its credits still sit in the denominator.
Step 6: Divide the total grade points by the total credit hours. The result is your semester GPA, normally shown to two decimal places. If the third decimal is 5 or more, round up: 3.375 becomes 3.38, and 3.374 becomes 3.37.
Worked Example 1: A Semester GPA of Exactly 3.50
This example follows a first-semester CSE student who takes six 3-credit courses, 18 credit hours in total, and earns two As, two A-minuses, and two B-pluses. Follow each multiplication and then the final division, and you will see the semester GPA come out to exactly 3.50.
| Course | Credit Hours | Letter Grade | Grade Point | Grade Points (GP x Credits) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CSE 101: Programming Fundamentals | 3 | A | 3.75 | 3.75 x 3 = 11.25 |
| MAT 101: Discrete Mathematics | 3 | A- | 3.50 | 3.50 x 3 = 10.50 |
| PHY 101: Physics | 3 | B+ | 3.25 | 3.25 x 3 = 9.75 |
| ENG 101: English | 3 | A | 3.75 | 3.75 x 3 = 11.25 |
| CHEM 101: Chemistry | 3 | B+ | 3.25 | 3.25 x 3 = 9.75 |
| CSE 102: Programming Lab | 3 | A- | 3.50 | 3.50 x 3 = 10.50 |
| Total | 18 | 63.00 |
Add the grade points column: 11.25 + 10.50 + 9.75 + 11.25 + 9.75 + 10.50 = 63.00. Add the credit hours column: 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 18. Now divide: 63.00 / 18 = 3.50. The semester GPA is exactly 3.50, which sits on the A-minus line of the grading scale.
Notice what the number tells you. This student earned no A+ and no B or below, yet the GPA is 3.50 rather than 3.75, because the two B+ grades pull the average down just as much as the two As pull it up. One more A instead of a B+ in Chemistry would have made the total 64.50 and the GPA 3.58: a single grade change in one 3-credit course moves the semester GPA by 0.08.
Worked Example 2: CGPA Across Two Semesters
CGPA is not the average of your semester GPAs. It is the same weighted calculation run over every course you have ever taken. The correct way is to add up all the grade points from all semesters and divide by all the credit hours from all semesters.
Take the student from the first example, who finished semester 1 with 63.00 grade points over 18 credits and a GPA of 3.50. In semester 2 the same student takes another six 3-credit courses, earning one A, one A-minus, one B+, and three Bs:
| Course | Credit Hours | Letter Grade | Grade Point | Grade Points (GP x Credits) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CSE 201: Data Structures | 3 | A | 3.75 | 3.75 x 3 = 11.25 |
| MAT 201: Linear Algebra | 3 | B+ | 3.25 | 3.25 x 3 = 9.75 |
| EEE 201: Electrical Circuits | 3 | B | 3.00 | 3.00 x 3 = 9.00 |
| STA 201: Statistics | 3 | A- | 3.50 | 3.50 x 3 = 10.50 |
| ECO 201: Economics | 3 | B | 3.00 | 3.00 x 3 = 9.00 |
| CSE 202: Data Structures Lab | 3 | B | 3.00 | 3.00 x 3 = 9.00 |
| Total | 18 | 58.50 |
Semester 2 on its own: 58.50 / 18 = 3.25. Combine the two semesters: total points = 63.00 + 58.50 = 121.50, total credits = 18 + 18 = 36, so CGPA = 121.50 / 36 = 3.375, which rounds to 3.38.
Check the shortcut against the proper method. The plain average of the two semester GPAs is (3.50 + 3.25) / 2 = 3.375, which agrees here only because both semesters carry exactly 18 credits. Change the credit load and the shortcut breaks: if semester 2 had carried 15 credits at the same GPA of 3.25, its points would have been 48.75, and the true CGPA would have been (63.00 + 48.75) / 33 = 3.386, which rounds to 3.39, while the plain average would still say 3.38. Always work from total points and total credits. The homepage calculator does this correctly when you enter all of your courses.
Worked Example 3: How Much You Need Next Semester to Reach Your Target CGPA
The most practical question a student can ask is not “what is my CGPA” but “what do I need next semester to reach the CGPA I want”. The arithmetic is simple once you rearrange the formula, and it often delivers an uncomfortable answer, which is exactly why it is worth doing before the semester starts rather than after the results come out.
Suppose you have completed 60 credit hours with a CGPA of 3.20, so your total grade points so far are 3.20 x 60 = 192.00. You plan to take 18 credit hours next semester, bringing your total to 78. The points you need for any target are the target times 78, minus the 192.00 you hold, and the semester GPA you need is that number divided by 18.
Target CGPA 3.50: you need 3.50 x 78 = 273.00 total points, so you need 273.00 – 192.00 = 81.00 new points over 18 credits, which is 81.00 / 18 = 4.50. That is above the maximum of 4.00, so it is impossible. Set a reachable target instead.
Target CGPA 3.30: you need 3.30 x 78 = 257.40 total points, so you need 257.40 – 192.00 = 65.40 new points, which is 65.40 / 18 = 3.63. That means averaging between an A-minus (3.50) and an A (3.75) across the whole semester, with no grade below B+. It is hard, but it is possible.
The lesson is about weight. Once you have 60 credits banked at 3.20, each new semester can only move the CGPA a little, because 18 new credits are averaged against 60 old ones. The earlier you fix a low CGPA, the cheaper it is.
GPA vs CGPA: What Each Number Means at CCN
Students use GPA and CGPA as if they were the same number, then get confused when a good semester does not move the figure they care about. The two numbers answer different questions.
GPA, the Grade Point Average, covers one semester. It tells you how you did in that term alone. A GPA of 3.50 in your first semester means you averaged an A-minus across the courses you took that term, and nothing else.
CGPA, the Cumulative Grade Point Average, covers every semester you have finished. It is the weighted average of all your courses since you enrolled, and it is the number on your transcript, the number employers ask for, and the number scholarship committees read. A strong semester raises it only a little if you already have many credits banked.
The practical difference shows up in two places. When you apply for a job or a scholarship, nobody asks for your best semester GPA. They ask for your CGPA, because it is the only number that summarises the degree. And when you are repairing a weak start, the GPA tells you whether the repair is working, while the CGPA tells you how far you still have to go. Worked example 3 shows why: a student with 60 credits at 3.20 needs a 3.63 semester just to reach a 3.30 CGPA, because the old credits weigh more than the new ones.
One more distinction matters. The GPA and CGPA in this guide are on a 4.00 scale, while the GPA you entered CCN with from SSC and HSC was on a 5.00 scale. The two scales are not interchangeable: a 4.00 in HSC is only an A, while a 4.00 at CCN is the maximum possible. Never quote your HSC GPA as your university CGPA on a CV or an application.
What Each Grade Band Means for Your Degree
The UGC scale comes with a traditional description of each grade band, which other Bangladeshi universities print alongside the table. These descriptions are a national convention rather than a CCN rule.
| CGPA Range | Traditional Description | What It Usually Signals |
|---|---|---|
| 3.75 – 4.00 | First Class with Distinction | Top of the class; competitive for scholarships |
| 3.50 – 3.74 | First Class | Strong result; clears most cutoffs |
| 3.25 – 3.49 | First Class | Solid result; above most minimums |
| 3.00 – 3.24 | First Class (minimum threshold) | Meets the usual 3.00 cutoff |
| 2.75 – 2.99 | Second Class | Below the 3.00 cutoff many employers use |
| 2.50 – 2.74 | Second Class | Passing but weak for competitive applications |
| 2.25 – 2.49 | Second Class | At risk where CGPA is filtered |
| 2.00 – 2.24 | Third Class / Pass | Meets the minimum to graduate, if CCN’s floor is 2.00 (unverified) |
The most important line in that table is 3.00. In Bangladesh, a CGPA of 3.00 is the cutoff in the largest number of job circulars and scholarship requirements. Falling below it closes doors, because many applications are filtered by software before a human reads them. If your CGPA is 2.85, the most valuable goal you can set is to cross 3.00.
Whether CCN awards a formal class of degree on the final transcript is unverified. The university has not published a degree classification rule, and the bands above are the UGC’s traditional equivalence, not a CCN regulation. Do not claim a class of degree on your CV unless the Registrar confirms that CCN awards one.
Common Mistakes CCN Students Make When Calculating GPA
Most wrong GPAs come from one of five errors, all easy to make and easy to avoid once you know to look for them.
1. Averaging the grade points instead of weighting them. This is the single most common error. Take four courses: a 1-credit lab with an A+ (4.00), a 3-credit course with a B (3.00), a 3-credit course with an A-minus (3.50), and a 3-credit course with a C+ (2.50). The plain average is (4.00 + 3.00 + 3.50 + 2.50) / 4 = 3.25. The correct weighted calculation is (4.00 x 1) + (3.00 x 3) + (3.50 x 3) + (2.50 x 3) = 31.00 points over 10 credits, which is 31.00 / 10 = 3.10. The plain average overstates the result by 0.15. Always multiply before you add.
2. Averaging semester GPAs instead of combining points and credits. A student with a 3.50 in semester 1 (18 credits) and a 3.25 in semester 2 (15 credits) has a CGPA of 3.39, not 3.38. Work from total points and total credits every time.
3. Leaving a failed course out of the denominator. An F earns zero grade points, but its credit hours stay in the calculation. Drop the failed course from both sides and your GPA comes out higher than the university will record. A 3-credit F in an 18-credit semester costs roughly 0.50 to 0.60 of GPA.
4. Mixing the 5.00 school scale with the 4.00 university scale. On the SSC and HSC scale, an A covers 70 to 79 percent, while an A at university level covers 75 to less than 80 percent. A student who earned 72 percent in HSC and calls it an A at university is wrong by a full grade band: 72 percent is an A-minus worth 3.50, not an A worth 3.75.
5. Rounding too early, and trusting a result sheet without checking it. If you round each course’s grade points before adding, the small errors accumulate, so keep the full numbers and round only the final GPA. And result sheets contain errors: a missing course, a credit hour typed as 2 instead of 3, or a letter grade that does not match your marks. Recalculate every semester from your own marks and credit hours, compare the result with the university’s figure, and raise any mismatch with the department office while the semester is still fresh.
How to Raise Your CGPA at CCN
There is no shortcut to a higher CGPA, but some moves pay more than others.
Protect the high-credit courses first. A 3-credit or 4-credit course moves your GPA three or four times as much as a 1-credit lab. Spend limited study hours where the credits are.
Chase the grade boundary, not the whole syllabus. The UGC table has hard cutoffs at 80, 75, 70, 65, 60, 55, 50, 45, and 40 percent. Moving from 74 to 75 percent is worth 0.25 grade points, while moving from 76 to 79 percent is worth nothing. If you are sitting at 73 or 74 percent in a course, a small push is worth more than the same effort spent on a course where you are sitting at 77 percent.
Clear an F as early as the rules allow. An F contributes zero points and keeps its credits in the denominator, so it is the most expensive grade on the table. Whether CCN lets you retake the course or sit a repeat examination depends on the retake policy, which is unverified. Whatever the route is, take it at the first opportunity.
Do the target math before each semester. Use the method in worked example 3 to find the semester GPA you need to reach your CGPA goal, and write it down before classes start. A specific target like “I need a 3.63 this semester, which means no grade below B+” tells you exactly what is at stake in every course.
Guard the D and C grades. A D is worth only 2.00 and a C only 2.25. Two or three low passes in a semester will drag a GPA below 3.00 even if the rest of your grades are good. If a course is heading for a D, invest the extra hours there rather than polishing an A-minus into an A somewhere else.
CCN vs BAIUST vs BAUST: Do Not Mix Them Up
Three Bangladeshi universities with similar names and similar locations get confused constantly, and the confusion matters, because their admission tests, campuses, and rules are different. Here is the short version.
CCN University of Science and Technology (CCNUST) is the subject of this guide. It is a private university at Kotbari, Cumilla, founded in 2014 by Dr. Md. Tariqul Islam Chowdhury and run by the CCN Education Family. It is not run by the army, and its campus is at Chowdhury Estate on CCN Road, not inside a cantonment.
Bangladesh Army International University of Science and Technology (BAIUST) is a different university in the same district. It was founded in February 2015, is run by the Bangladesh Army, and its campus is in the Cumilla Cantonment area, with a permanent campus at Syedpur, Adarsha Sadar, Cumilla. BAIUST and CCN both sit in Cumilla and both teach CSE, EEE, Civil Engineering, and BBA, which is why applicants mix them up, but they are separate institutions. Our BAIUST grading system guide covers that university separately.
Bangladesh Army University of Science and Technology (BAUST) is a third university, and it is not in Cumilla at all. It is at Saidpur Cantonment in Nilphamari, in the Rangpur Division, was founded in February 2015, and is also army-backed. Its website is baust.edu.bd. Our BAUST grading system guide covers it separately.
The rule of thumb is simple. If the university is at Kotbari and was founded by the CCN Education Family, it is CCN. If it is army-run and in Cumilla Cantonment, it is BAIUST. If it is army-run and in Saidpur, Nilphamari, it is BAUST. Check the full name and the location before you trust any grading guide or admission circular, because a rule for one of these universities may not apply to the others.
Britannia University is the other private university in Cumilla city, founded in 2010, and it publishes the same UGC grade table on its own website. The BAUET grading guide and the Gono Bishwabidyalay grading guide cover two more Bangladeshi private universities on the same national scale.
What CCN Does Not Publish Online: Rules You Must Verify
This section lists every rule a CCN student needs that we could not verify from any public source. Do not treat any of these as fact until the university confirms it.
Letter-grade table: UNVERIFIED as a CCN document. CCN publishes no grade table on its website. The table in this guide is the UGC uniform scale, confirmed against five other universities. Confirm it with your department office and check the grading key on your own transcript.
Retake and repeat examination policy: UNVERIFIED. We found no published rule on what happens when you fail a course at CCN: whether you retake the full course or sit a repeat examination, how many times you may retake, whether the new grade replaces the old one, and what fee applies. Most Bangladeshi private universities allow a retake with the new grade replacing the F, but that is a general pattern, not a CCN rule. Ask the Registrar’s office before you plan around it.
Academic probation: UNVERIFIED. We found no published probation threshold for CCN: no minimum semester GPA, no CGPA floor for good standing, and no rule on how many semesters below the threshold lead to dismissal. Other Bangladeshi universities commonly set the floor at 2.00, but that is not evidence about CCN. If your CGPA falls below 2.50, contact your department head and the Registrar.
Graduation CGPA floor: UNVERIFIED. We found no published minimum CGPA for graduation at CCN. The common floor at Bangladeshi private universities is 2.00, and some programmes require 2.50, but neither figure is confirmed for CCN. Confirm the requirement for your programme in writing, ideally in your first year.
Dean’s List, honours, and degree classification: UNVERIFIED. We found no published Dean’s List cutoff, no gold medal rule, and no statement of whether CCN awards a First Class or Second Class on the final degree. The classification bands above are the UGC’s traditional equivalence, not a CCN regulation.
Grade improvement and re-evaluation: UNVERIFIED. We found no published rule on re-evaluating an answer script, appealing a grade, or improving a D or C by re-sitting a course you passed. Most universities have a re-evaluation window of a few weeks after results are published, with a fee per course, but the window, the fee, and the procedure at CCN are not public.
Credit transfer and course waiver: PARTLY VERIFIED. The university’s at-a-glance page states that students may be admitted by credit transfer if they fulfil the university’s criteria, and that the Department of Business Administration accepts up to 50 percent of courses with mapping of the syllabus and programme learning outcomes. The full transfer rule is not published.
The contact route for all of the above is the same: the Registrar’s office, CCN University of Science and Technology, Kotbari, Cumilla, phone 01815315000 or 01756816391, email ccnust@gmail.com. Ask for the academic ordinance or the student handbook, and ask for the answer in writing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What grading system does CCN University use?
CCN University of Science and Technology uses the UGC Bangladesh uniform 4.00 grading scale: A+ 4.00, A 3.75, A-minus 3.50, B+ 3.25, B 3.00, B-minus 2.75, C+ 2.50, C 2.25, D 2.00, and F 0.00, with the pass mark at 40 percent. CCN has not published its own grade table, so confirm the scale against the grading key on your transcript.
How do I calculate my CGPA at CCN?
Multiply each course’s grade point by its credit hours, add all the results together, and divide by the total credit hours across all semesters. Do not average your semester GPAs, because that gives the wrong answer whenever two semesters carry different credit loads. Use the homepage calculator and enter every course.
What CGPA do I need to graduate from CCN?
Unverified. CCN has not published a graduation CGPA floor. The common floor at Bangladeshi private universities is 2.00, but that is not confirmed for CCN. Ask the Registrar’s office for the requirement for your programme in writing.
Is 3.50 CGPA good at CCN?
Yes. A CGPA of 3.50 sits on the A-minus line of the UGC scale and falls in the First Class band, which runs from 3.00 upward. It clears the 3.00 cutoff used by most employers, banks, and scholarship programmes in Bangladesh. The first worked example shows a semester of two As, two A-minuses, and two B-pluses producing exactly 3.50.
What happens if I fail a course at CCN?
An F is worth 0.00 grade points, earns no credit toward your degree, and still counts in the GPA denominator. A single 3-credit F in an 18-credit semester typically costs 0.50 to 0.60 of GPA. What happens next, retaking the course or sitting a repeat examination, depends on CCN’s retake policy, which the university has not published. Does CCN use the same grading scale as BAIUST and BAUST?
All three sit under the UGC, so all three use the same uniform 4.00 scale as their base. But they are three separate institutions with separate admission processes, campuses, and unpublished rules. CCN is the private university at Kotbari founded by the CCN Education Family; BAIUST is the army-run university in Cumilla Cantonment; BAUST is the army-run university at Saidpur in Nilphamari.
How many credits is a CCN degree?
The admission portal lists the four-year BBA at 144 credits, with tuition of 45,000 taka per semester. Credit totals for the other programmes are not published on the portal page we checked. Your own programme’s credit total is on your course outline and registration slip.
The Bottom Line for CCN Students
Your GPA at CCN is a weighted average on a 4.00 scale: ten letter grades, ten grade points, and one formula. The table is the UGC uniform scale, the formula is total grade points divided by total credit hours, and the worked examples show a semester of two As, two A-minuses, and two B-pluses landing on exactly 3.50, two semesters combining into a CGPA of 3.38, and how much you need next semester to reach any target. If you remember only three things, remember these: multiply grade points by credit hours before you add anything, never average your semester GPAs, and count a failed course’s credits in the denominator even though it earns no points.
The second thing to remember is that this guide is honest about its limits. CCN has not published its grade table, its retake rule, its probation threshold, its graduation floor, or its honours cutoffs. The UGC scale is a solid reference, confirmed against five other universities, but the CCN-specific rules are yours to verify with the Registrar. Save this page, run your numbers through the calculator, check them once by hand, and spend your energy on the courses that carry the most credits, because that is where the CGPA is actually won.
